Sleep is one of the most important things in life, no matter what age we are. Sleep is especially important for children because this is where they develop. Children sleep up to 15 hours on average, which is why it is important to have a good, high-quality bed. Cribs create security, both for parents and children. There you have the biggest argument for why you should choose a crib for your child.

The most important thing for a child to get a good night's sleep is security. At the same time, cribs often come with a mattress that has channels, making it extremely well ventilated. This allows your child to get much more out of those hours of sleep, and this benefits the whole family. A good bed provides the best conditions for a good night's sleep for your child.

How to choose the right crib

When choosing a crib, there are many considerations that you must make. This is regardless of whether you choose to buy your crib used or from new. However, the most important thing to consider is your child's sleep. Your child will spend many hours in his bed, which is why it is important to have a good crib. You need to find a crib that both you and your baby are comfortable with. You do this by paying attention to the cot's safety, functionality and, not least, quality.

You must be 100% safe and certain that your child is in bed when you leave the child. In addition, you need to find a crib that holds something. The crib should not break when both children and parents use it. If you choose a high-quality cot, you are also sure that it will last a long time without major repairs.

At the same time, a good quality cot can often be passed down, which is good for our environment. Choose a crib with an adjustable bottom, this ensures that both the baby and the parents get closer to each other, but it also protects the parents' backs during the baby's first year. If you choose a cot with removable sides, the cot will last significantly longer.

What should I be aware of before buying a crib?

From the Swedish Consumer Agency's point of view, there are a number of points that you should pay attention to before buying and using a cot. There should be at least 30 cm between the highest setting on the bottom of the crib and the top of the crib, if you choose a crib with an adjustable bottom. Here it is also important to remember that the bottom must not be able to be lowered without tools. Then make sure that there is 4.5-6.5 cm between the slats so that your child does not risk damaging the slats.

If you choose a cot where the sides can be folded down, the child will not be able to manage this by himself. For maximum safety, it is recommended that there are two locking mechanisms that must be activated at the same time, so you are sure that your child cannot lower the sides by themselves. If you choose to decorate your crib or fill it with a lot of accessories, make sure that there are no small parts that can easily fall off. At the same time, it is also important that the accessories do not have strings in which the child can be wrapped.

How long can the child use the crib?

It is different how long a child enjoys his crib. This depends a lot on the crib you have chosen. However, it is often said that a cot can be used until the child is around 3 years old. However, it's not just the age you need to focus on, the size and behavior of the child is a more important factor when it comes to changing the bed.

If your baby can no longer be in the crib, it becomes natural to replace it with a bed that fits your baby's size. If your baby starts to become unhappy lying in the crib or starts climbing up and down it, it can put your baby in dangerous situations and therefore you should replace the crib if this starts.
